Wednesday, October 19th

General:
  1. Early Dismissal on Friday @ 11:00am
  2. Pillars of Care Assembly at 8:15am
  3. Book orders due October 27th (Mr. Shackelton's class)
  4. A notice went home about the Halloween dance that will take place next week.

Science:

  • PLEASE BRING ALL LEAVES AND MATERIALS NECESSARY FOR YOUR PROJECT TOMORROW!!!!!
  • Mrs. Tam will help press some leaves with wax paper and an iron.

Math:
  • We continued practicing input and output numbers.  Students are also learning to write pattern rules to go with their patterns (e.g. Start with 3, multiple 4 each time).
Social:
  • Today was a work period for the Regions of Canada.  Many students used their time wisely and now have a great start to their research.  As a class we discussed how important it was not to copy information from the internet word for word.  That is called plagiarism.
Language Arts:
  • We continued to look at how to write better main events (rising actions, climax) in stories.  Two common mistakes students tend to make include:
    • summarize the event rather than STRETCHING IT OUT
    • list action after action and linking it with "and then"
  • Our main events should have a good balance between:
    • description
    • action
    • dialogue
    • thoughts/feelings
    • sound effects
