Good afternoon!
Greetings from myself Mrs. Harris in room 15.
Math
Today in math we talked a lot about fractions, but specifically IMPROPER fractions and MIXED numbers or MIXED fractions. There was a specific focus on working through converting fractions using pictures and drawings to create a deep understanding of the concept. Please ask your child to explain how pictures assist them in developing their understanding.
Science
Our latest units of study in Science are: Air, Aerodynamics and Flight. Students are beginning to generate questions regarding these topics which they will answer during class time as well as outside of school. We discussed how to get appropriate information including the internet for videos as well as books. Since many of the students were curious about birds and flight, we explored this by watching the video below followed by a discussion.

Phys. ED.
On January 11th all grades will be starting our gymnastics unit. This will run for 3 weeks with the final week being mission impossible. As there is a higher risk for injury, this is a zero tolerance unit. Any students performing any activities in an unsafe manner or causing distraction to others will be removed from gymnastics and given an assignment to complete at a desk in the gym instead. In extreme cases where the safety of others is at risk, students will be removed from the gym.
We do perform some activities which involve heights and tell the students to only climb as high as they feel comfortable with. There is no penalty for not making it to the top.
For this unit we ask that students are wearing appropriate clothing to allow for movement and safety.
No dangling ear rings, necklaces, bracelets, watches or rings.
Long hair is tied back
no loose open clothing such as unbuttoned shirts or open hoodies.
Don't wear pants that are too tight
Don't wear dresses, or skirts
No boots, heels, sandals or dress shoes.
Any questions or concerns can be directed to Mr. Sadowsky
Thank you
